Each month we have done something different the first month my ministry worked in the kitchen, feed the chickens, worked on the road in front of the compound ( had massive craters in the road so big trucks couldn’t go on it), and compost. I loved getting to work in the kitchen and help the lady’s who serve us each day. I wish you could see how we communicate with each other since we only know a little of each other languages. It’s a lot of sounds and hand motions. My next favorite ministry to do would be the road. I loved how I got to see the fruit of my labor. And I loved how I got to make a positive impact on the community and how appreciative they were, that I was taking the time to do it. I got to make friends with the guards as well. One guard that works at the front of the compound reminded me so much of my grandpa Peter. I would bring theses rocks to the to fill in the holes in the road and would try to smash them. I would have to throw them at the ground about a hundred times before they would smash. Papa (the guard) would come over there take a rock and just drop it. No force and it would smash into a million pieces his first time! He would tease me and laugh at how astonished I was that this old man could smash the rocks so effortlessly but I couldn’t do it no matter how hard I tried. He later showed me how to do it after making me sweat a little.

The chickens couldn’t have been more fun. I got to go out after each meal and feed the chickens the scraps from the kitchen. It was funny to see how eventually when they saw my face they would start clucking and run on their little legs over to the coop. Their was one that my teammates and I call Stacy. She is a super fat chicken that mouths of the others. She’s my favorite.

In the afternoons I get to either play with the kids or talk to God. This is by far on of my favorite things to do. I have never heard, seen, or felt him like I do here. When we say God is alive, HE IS ALIVE. It’s hard to express how I hear, see or feel him the way I do now. But his presence never leaves me. He has shown me though that this is a time I will never get to experience probably ever again. In the Bible it talks about if two or more are gathered in his name his presence is there. And my whole group of 40 is all gathered in God’s names. His presence hasn’t left my group since I launch! That’s an amazing thought! And I’m super thankful for all his presence has brought in the last 4 month.

P.S. still fundraising! Still have $2,300 left to raise. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. My email is [email protected]
