This one’s for you, Jackie.

Jackie is my squad leader, and is one of the most genuine and relatable leaders I have ever had. The “crustiest” squad leader, she fundraises to live with 40 kids for the whole nine months of the world race. She is vulnerable in sharing her past, engages into living in the present, and fearlessly expresses her hopes and dreams for the future. Jackie is intentional, loving, caring, and one of the funniest people I have ever met. Follow #jackiecam on @allybadinger Instagram stories to see what a joy she is and the laughter she brings.

My favorite story is one we call “Yeet Karma.” 18 people were riding down a mountain in a 15-passenger van, so Jackie was obviously standing because she’s so gracious. We taught her “yeet” and, a few minutes later, she was telling a story and she describes being really excited with “yeet!!!” We all cheer and are so excited for her, and, on cue, the bus brakes and Jackie wipes out to the floor and against the front seat. Jackie never stopped laughing, though it might have been crying, and continues to laugh at the yeet karma.

Today is her birthday! She is not yet fully funded, so if you would like to support her and the work she is doing in our lives, her blog is Jackiehalyard.theworldrace.org. We love you so so much, Jackie!!
