“Dear God, please make us dangerous women. May we be women who acknowledge our power to change, and grow, and be radically alive for God. May we be healers of wounds and righters of wrongs. May we weep with those who weep and speak for those who cannot speak or themselves. May we cherish children, embrace the elderly, and empower the poor. May we pray deeply and teach wisely. May we be strong and gentle leaders. May we sing songs of joy and talk down fear. May we never hesitate to let passion push us, conviction compel us, and righteous anger energize us. May we strike fear into all that is unjust and evil in the world. May we dismantle abusive systems and silence lies with truth. May we shine like stars in a darkened generation. May we overflow with goodness in the name of God and by the power of Jesus. And in that name and by that power, may we change the world. Dear God, please make us dangerous women.”

Many times in the past several weeks, I have been prayed over (other people have asked this to God for me) to become a dangerous woman for God. Every morning in Ecuador, I have processed and prayed over each sentence of this “Dangerous Women” prayer. I have asked God to enable me to fight for justice, to have undeniable faith, and to love and to be loved.

As I have grown stronger in my prayers and thoughts throughout the day, my week has become difficult. I have been plagued by depression, intrsive thoughts, and discouragement. Just when I was thinking that I could never have the strength that I have been given, I found these Bible verses. (the Bible is split up into 66 books, which each have chapters and “verses” for each point) “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.” -Psalm 46:5

With this promise in mind, I was able to enter into the work day ready to enable other girls to become dangerous women. At our ministry, we got to meet the girls who were rescued from sex trafficking. Ages 12-17, they were full of laughter, fight, and perserverance. The “Troop” played soccer with them, made them lunch, and got to experience a new reality for them. It was one girl’s fifteenth birthday, and we got to celebrate her first ever birthday party. I was filled with awe at these opportunities, joy at their infectious laughter, and heartbreak over their stories, shared by our host. I am so blessed to become a part of their new lives, security, and joy.

I am so thankful to be able to love on these girls, my troop, and my squad. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers that have got me this far.
