Ministry what y’all have been patiently waiting to hear about…
this month me and my team of 8 are working at a school called Dewy institute. its a very prestigious school ranging from preschool/nursery to 15 year olds. most of whom are from rich families. some of my team actually got to teach the class themselves while others assisted the teacher. this past week we worked with the preschool and nursery campus which is very close to where we live its just right over the bridge.
the beginning of the week was very hard for me! I didn’t like the first day at all. it was slow, and boring and I felt as if I had no purpose for ministry in the school. that evening I got home and I was talking to my squad leader Louise and I was processing the day and telling him that it is hard to sit in the back of a class room and not do much, and to my rant he simply asked me… “Kat what if that is what God has chosen ministry to look like for you? what would you do?” in that moment I didn’t know. I started to second guess my attitude my outlook on ministry and ultimately realizing that bringing the kingdom isn’t anything big it is just about the heart. I realized was being selfish and ministry was going to look how I wanted it to if I had a good attitude things would change. simple as that. toward the end of the week I actually got to teach a class of four year olds with my team mate Elle and it was such a fun time. and to top it all of we wrote the teacher of the class a letter proclaiming his freedom in Jesus Christ.
this week we are at a new campus called dewy elite. this is one of the nicer campuses of the 6. it has a wider range of ages and there are a greater range of opportunities for the kids. for example there is swimming and soccer and more subjects. for the first day kaylen and I took over a class of four boys ages ten and eleven. this only lasted the morning because in the afternoons they have khmer classes so Kaylen and I had nothing to do so we decided to ask the principle if there was anything we could do. he continued to tell us that there was much painting to be done and they really wanted some art in the new library. they old us that we could give him a list of whatever we needed to do it and they would get it for us. so that first afternoon kaylen and I sat in the office looking for the perfect thing to put on the wall in the library.
we chose to do a quote “everything that is real was imagined first” it turned out amazing and the kids absolutely love it!!! (I will post a pic when I get one)
This past week has been such a blessing and I really have started to love my ministry I have realized that God is on the move in this school and he has already started to change the hearts of some of the student that we have gotten to encounter. It has also been such a joy to meet other christian teachers at the school and be a inspiration and blessing to them.
God is teaching me to be patient in his timing and to have faith in what I cannot see!!!!
