hey, friends, my name is Kat Diel and I am from Delafield Wisconsin, and currently a senior at lake country Lutheran high school.
I have been on a crazy roller coaster the past few months with the question of what I was going to be doing after high school. for a long time, I was planning on pursuing my love for music and pottery but I felt conflicted that it wasn’t where God wanted me. so I sat down with some strong Christian supporters and my counselor and tried to talk about where I was at. My school counselor told me to sit down with my twin and try to figure out what we wanted together by making a list and challenged us to dig deep into prayer. well, it turned out that it was very difficult for my twin and myself to see clearly and neither of us really knew what we wanted or needed. so I proceeded to make a flow chart by myself. When I was all done I took a step back and looked at it. in the very center were the words ”make a difference” branching off it was ”serve our lord” and ”love” I thought missions would be the perfect thing. I had heard of world race from one of my friends older sisters and talked to her about it and she told me all good things and encouraged me to look into it. So I continued to pursue it without telling my twin. It had been about a week and we still had not talked about future planning, until that Sunday we had a beautiful message in our church in which our pastor talked about how the ultimate form of worship is too minister. and our job in life is to share Gods word. After church Caroline came up to me and told me she knew what she wanted to do next year. she went on to tell me that she wanted to go into the mission field. at that moment I was the happiest person. I was so incredibly confident with what God was planning in our lives and I had never felt God working so powerfully through it all. I told her about how I was looking into mission trips and that I knew exactly what we should do it through. so we sat down together and started researching, reading, watching. Anything we could do to find out more about the gap year mission trip. This is when our journey started. from then on, I have been so excited to commit to this mission and can’t wait to see how God will mold me mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Starting on September 8th I will be flying across the ocean to be obedient to our Lord and Savior. it is a 9-month mission trip that consists of 4 different countries. my route will be too Cambodia, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica. And the journey starts now with prayer.
love you all and can’t wait to see how God is going to use you in my race! 🙂
