I am sitting in the sun in Cape Town South Africa in a rented out house. Our squad is waiting to head out to the airport, where we are going home! We will have an 8 hour layover in Istanbul Turkey and then we will have landed in the States around 7:30pm on November 23rd!
Its over. I can’t believe it. It is very surreal. I have lived with these people for 11 months traveling around world, doing life with them. We have a common bond, JESUS. Seriously I value that so much. Its different when you have people around you that you know will be in heaven with you someday. We have come so close, especially us guys.
These 6 days in Cape Town have been for reflection and to have fun. We had an emotional night of worship a few nights ago. We all stood in a circle and were numbered off 1,2,3 and one group of numbers would get in the middle of the circle while the others had there eyes closed with there backs turned and our squad mentor Alissa named of qualities and if they matched someone then the ones in the circle would tap the persons shoulder. They were questions like “this person has impacted you this year, or this person is strong, this person taught you about humility this year, this person is a good friend, you saw this person lay down his life for others etc. We did this with all three groups switching out. Many people were crying and I got multiple hands on me. Many people hugged me and held on for a while. It was a reminder for all of us what the Lord has done this year and how much other people on the squad see that and value it. I don’t know you just had to be there, It was special.
Many people struggle after they come off the world race and come back to America. Others do really well. This debrief here in Cape Town was centered around to talk about some of the challenges with coming home and to just be reminded of Gods faithfulness. Also to carry our momentum into the next season of life. We have had many debriefs in between countries. They were all very helpful. Our squad mentor Alissa did an awesome job leading us this year.
Man! I have to thank you all for your support. Seriously. Thank you thank you thank you. For the prayers, encouragement and obviously your finances. Thank you thank you. People got saved, lives were transformed, including mine. So many stories. It would not have been possible without you. Very grateful for prayers above all else. Because they come up to God as incense. They really do change things!
Also I know you all have done life this year too no less important than mine. The mission never stops until Jesus comes! Heck maybe I will be on the field again soon. But I am excited to be back in America and to continue the mission there. Love you all.
