After a long three weeks of ministry here in Peru, I want to take this time to summarize everything we did last month in Ecuador.
Ministry this month was very extensive. Over the course of about 3 weeks we, as a team visited over 80 homes to give them encouragement, pray for healing or deliverance, share the gospel and ultimately just to show them the heart of Love the Father has for them. In addition, each of us preached and some of us preached a couple of times for each of the churches we partnered with. We partnered with 9 churches and joined them in their very personal strategy in order that people would come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Being the only Spanish speaker on my team, I had a slightly bigger role than I normally have as our teams translator. In every home visit we did and in every preaching we did, I and our squad leader Brittany were there to translate.
In addition to preaching in normal church settings, we also did a few “open air” church services as they called them in which we would go to a local park and invite as many people as we could to come and we would begin to preach the gospel as well as do different fun activities and skits about the bible for the kids.
Besides the home visits, which comprised the biggest portion of our ministry, we spent a large portion of our time with kids and youth. We played games with them, ran skits, shared testimonies, sang songs, and shared bible lessons with them.
The month of February was a very exhausting month, filled with lots of work, fun and not without its fair share of infirmities. However, through it all, I saw the kingdom of God in a way I had never seen it before this month. I stepped out in obedience and discomfort more times than I could probably even remember. Perhaps even more importantly than how much the Lord stretched me was how many people’s lives the Lord touched this month and how much of his glory I got to see this month. The longer I spend here on the race, the more I realize that this is less about what I do or can do and more about getting to participate in what God is doing all over the world and boy is it cool.
Stay tuned for updates on Peru. In the next few days, I will be posting updates about the work of God in Peru.
