Hi everyone!
I wanted to give an update on how my journey has been over these past couple of months as I continue to prepare for the World Race. It’s been slow but steady going. I’ve started my fundraising campaign and am working on planning a couple of events over the next couple of months. I’ve started to physically prepare for the journey before training camp in October. Each day I’ve been taking little steps to pursue my purpose and walk with boldness.
If you asked anyone to describe me, bold would be the farthest word from anyone’s mind! People would be more likely to say quiet or reserved. Yet, this trip and everything leading up to it requires boldness from me.
I have to be bold when it comes to asking others to support me financially for my trip.
I have to be bold when it comes to telling others about my journey
I have to be bold when it comes to telling others about Christ and what he has done and is doing in my life.
There are many things that I can be afraid of that keep me from acting. Sometimes I am afraid that I may mistakenly do something that’ll cause people to dislike me. Other times I may be afraid of picking up the phone to call or text someone because I’m uncertain of what the end result will be.
But a verse that has stood out to me lately is 1 John 4:18, which says, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” Many of my fears have to do with ending up with an unknown or undesired result, or rejection, or emotional or physical pain. But having assurance of this perfect love that God has for me, I don’t have to let fear stop me from doing what I should and want to do. He loved me (and you) so much that when we were still sinners he sent his Son to die for us! It’s only natural to feel fear. But what is courage but doing something even though it frightens you?
Here’s to walking in boldness and being courageous!
Jessica
