I’m excited about Malaysia, guys. God is good, and I’m pumped to see what He’s doing right here. He’s gonna do something cool whether I see it or not (you can pray I get to see it because that’s always nice), but either way, he’s gonna do something cool! God, you’re up! Do your thing!

We made it to Georgetown, Malaysia the night of April 29 in time for our month four debrief (May 1-4). Debrief is basically a time for us to try and process some of what has been happening on the field over the past few months. Some of our leadership from the States come and walk us through team debriefs, team leader debriefs, and one-on-ones to support and encourage us through whatever we are walking through. We had a month one debrief in Ghana after our first month on the Race and will have another debrief at the end of next month.

Last month, we were in Thailand doing “Ask the Lord” ministry, which will also be what we do here in Malaysia and next month in Indonesia. We are currently in Georgetown, Malaysia on the island of Penang, and now that debrief is over, the five teams on my squad are free to go wherever in the country we feel the Lord is leading us. My team will be staying in Georgetown for a few weeks. Some of our team will be working in a refugee school, and some of us are still asking the Lord where he wants us. Homeless ministry is something that has come up for a few teammates, so that is a possibility of what I will be doing, but I still really have no idea. God is going to do his thing even if I don’t know what it is until the last second.

One thing I would absolutely LOVE to do is work with persecuted Christians here or in Indonesia as Malaysia and Indonesia are in the top 50 on the World Watch list that shows which countries have the highest persecution levels for Christians in the world. I don’t know if you have ever read the books “Killing Christians” or “Standing in the Fire” by Tom Doyle, but you SHOULD if you haven’t because those books are filled with testimonies of the Lord’s faithfulness and power in the midst of awful circumstances. Those books talk a lot about Muslims in the Middle East having dreams about Jesus. How super incredibly awesomely cool would it be if God was also giving Jesus dreams to Muslims HERE in SOUTHEASTERN ASIA?! And what if I got the amazing opportunity to speak to someone who was having dreams?!?!?!?! Okay, so I know it may not happen, and I’m still excited about what the Lord is doing no matter what, but will you pray with me that God would give me that opportunity?!??!?!?! I actually pray often for myself to have dreams about Jesus because that’s just so cool.

I’m just going to list out some other things you can be praying for since I like lists:

  • Continued unity on my team and that we encourage and build one another up as we seek to hear from the Lord.
  • That the Lord speaks clearly to us as a team and gives us direction in who to talk to and where to go. This is something I would love prayer for individually too as I don’t always have confidence in how God speaks to me and how to navigate all that good stuff.
  • So many opportunities to share how good God is, even in a closed country, and that people would have open hearts and a hunger to hear and seek truth.
  • My discipline in time with the Lord and reading his Word.
  • That I would love people above all else and live out of the overflow of joy from the Lord and not trying to do things on my own. I don’t want loving people to be a checklist or a duty.
  • It would be easy for me to list ‘safety’ as a prayer request, but I actually just want you to pray for cool things to happen in Jesus’ name regardless of the risk because isn’t the risk part of the cost of following Jesus? Pray that his name be glorified above all else. God is good, not safe.
  • That frustration, distraction, apathy, comparison, and passiveness would NOT have a hold on me and that the goodness of God impacts every aspect of my life and CHANGES how I think and how I act.

You are all the best. Thanks for reading my blogs and your continued support and encouragement; it truly means so much to me. I can’t wait to continue to share the goodness of God with you and tell you about what he is doing here in Malaysia and how He is growing me.
