Hi friends! Wanna share a cool story with you about how good our God is. It starts back in Malaysia and Singapore where the Lord really stirred my heart to be bold with the Gospel and to find ways to meet locals. Because of this, I logged onto Couchsurfing, an app that allows you to meet and stay with locals. Because we have five 5 people in our team most people could not host us, but I had many people reach out, saying that they wanted to meet up. One in particular stood out to me. Her name was Yosi.

Yosi noticed that my profile said my passion was Jesus. She shared she was also a believer and wanted to meet believers from around the world. I was drawn to her message and wanted to connect while we were in Bandung, Indonesia. A few weeks later during our squad debrief, I had the opportunity to meet Yosi. We shared a drink one day. The next day, she came over for lunch and brought tons of yummy Indonesian food! 🙂 It was amazing and encouraging to hear her story, hear her desire for missions, for God, and giving her life to Christ, wherever** that might lead her. As I was messaging her, my heart longed not only to encourage her in her relationship with God, but to introduce her to my squad and allow the body of Christ to encourage her. God did just that and even more.

While Yosi and I had incredible conversation through Whatsapp and meals and we still keep up, she got connected to Sam, a girl on my squad. This month in Indonesia, the guys and girls split up for men’s and women’s ministry. Yosi was able to locate a place for the girls to stay, connect them to local ministries, and also stay with our girls! Sam wrote a bit about what they have been doing. Here it is in her words.

– After explaining a little more about unscripted and the world race she wanted to be part.
– She helped us find a house for all the girls to go after debrief that was in budget.
– She is staying with us, joining in our our worship and prayer times, and helping translate with the locals.
– We asked if there was a place that we could donate clothes and we were blessed with an opportunity to hold babies, play with toddlers, and minister to woman who became pregnant before marriage or were raped.
– It is a Christian organization that has turned into a safe house for woman in a culture where honor is very important.

It’s amazing how God works! About a month ago, I was talking to 20+ people on Couchsurfing. Just messaging people through an app. God tugged on my heart for one of those individuals and moved in a way I could not have done or imagined by myself. And, it was in God’s divine timing, coming to fruition weeks after the initial interaction. I love that Yosi was a blessing to us, helping us get plugged into the community and helping us find lodging. And I believe we were able to surround her and encourage her in her own faith. I love how the body of Christ comes around one another and it doesn’t matter what background, culture, country, or even faith you come from, the body of Christ is family.

Here are a few things I appreciated and learned from this amazing God connection:
– While I may play just one piece in the puzzle, God’s story is beautiful and intricate and I’m grateful He lets me be a part of it.
– I think God wants us to take a little initiative. While there are endless opportunities all around us each day as we go about our day, God also honors when we step out.
– Obedience to God is first and foremost – I spend most of my debriefs internalizing and processing. This time I felt God encouraging me to spend my free time with others. Man, was I as well as my team blessed because of it.
– The body of Christ was able to surround Yosi, a fellow sister in the Lord, and we were mutually encouraged in our faiths.
