Training camp was nothing like I expected! Some pros and some cons.
Pros:
-I really got to bond and spend time with my squad and teammates!
-I got to experience real camping and life situations in other countries (this will be a pro and a con)
-I learned the most a person could learn about God and relationships in two weeks.
-I was able to connect with God on a submissive level which I haven’t experienced much of before. So that was pretty awesome.
-I took a bucket shower for the first time and am much more appreciative of the shower I have.
I ate different foods from different countries. (Some were very spicy!) My favorite was curry chicken and rice on pita bread. I could eat that every day!
-The worship was amazing!
-I loved the messages they gave! I feel like Im going into this more prepared on how to still have my relationships back home and the ones Ill have on the race.
Cons:
-It was really straining emotionally. But what isn’t if God is moving in you?
-I was pretty home sick after a little while because I haven’t been home in almost a month.
-Sleeping in a tent during the summer is definitely not cool. (Haha get it?) But it did give me the idea to set up my hammock which i slept in half of camp.
-There were SO MANY TICKS, wasps, hornets, ants, and mosquitoes. I got some bug bites but nothing too serious like a lot of other people got. But it did put me on edge 24/7.
-That 2.2 mile hike was probably the hardest thing i have had to do physically! But I passed with 10 minutes left!
– We all had to say goodbye to 3 members of the squad. I know God will move in them and through them just as much because this was just not part of His plan for them.
I really didn’t have much bad experiences. I just know that God really worked me and broke me. He’s building me back into something new and stronger. I have really learned that its not my life, its His. I have learned that no matter what i am going through or how hard my life may seem God deserves every bit of glory I can possibly give Him and more!
