We’ve had ministry with kids the entire race, whether it was teaching English, running camps, or just living and loving on them. One of my favorite things about God is that he loves us as his children. We all have this childlike spirit and he wants us to run to him like a little kid does. I’ve learned a lot about what child likes faith looks like because I’ve seen how pure and precious it really is. I’ve had some amazing examples of this through some pretty amazing kids, but here in Nicaragua there’s on little boy that stands out.

His name is Andres. He is 10 years old and is the son of one of the kitchen ladies here. Andres is someone who truly welcomes everyone with open arms, daily I’ll see him hugging each and every one of us when he arrives in the morning and before he goes home. He is this little ray of sunshine and a perfect example of the Lord’s joy. The way Andres loves people is how our Father wants us to not only love him, but love the people around us. Watching Andres constantly pouring out love to those around him no matter if he’s ever even talked to them before is something I strive for. It’s something that we all should. Unconditional love, it’s amazing to watch and see how he loves encourages everyone around him by being an example of love. If you haven’t read Love Does yet by Bob Goff, go buy it no joke it will change how you see life. In his book Bob has tons of anecdotes about people he knows and looks up to for how they love the people around them. If Bob writes another book (everybody always is also SO good) I think Andres deserves a spot in that book. What he does isn’t complicated or confusing, he just loves. It’s that simple, he goes to everyone with open arms and never waits to be loved first. We should all spread love like Andres because thats how Jesus loved and calls us to love as well.

Our God is one that loves us as his kids. In Matthew 19:14 it says “let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these”. Go to God like a child. We all know the realities of life, the struggles and hardships we all facebut faith like a child means one that is purely optimistic. A faith that has no boundaries or limitations except that it knows what love is. It constantly seeks out love and gives it away freely. There is so much we can learn from kids and I’m so thankful for everything I’ve learned from all of the amazing ones I’ve encountered n my life. You’re never too old for God, he will always see you as his child no matter how young or old you happen to be.
