You know how it feel when everything in the world feels right? That’s how I feel right now.
I am in a beautiful place and a beautiful culture with the kindest people. I have gotten to build such intentional relationships with locals in such a short amount of time. I get to hang out with tons of different Ticos every day and each person I’ve been able to hang out with, I always leave feeling full. My team got to serve at La Montaña Christian Camp for our first ministry and had the opportunity to meet about 20 Costa Ricans around our age and older. I built such fun friendships in that short week at La Montaña. I see myself definitely coming back to serve at La Montaña because of how kind and real the people are. Also, my team gets to serve in the red light district, as you know, and within that ministry, I’ve been able to meet such amazing Christians pursuing God so intentionally. We get the opportunity to spend quality time with people who are on a mission with God in their country. It gives me so much joy to spend time with locals. Our last ministry is serving at a community center called La Cometa. My teammate, Victoria, and I get to teach ballet to little girls on Wednesday’s and Friday’s and it gives me so much joy to serve in such a fun way. These ministries that we’ve had in Costa Rica just remind me that ministry is not what everyone thinks it is. Ministry can be anyway you serve and love God’s people.
Through all of these beautiful opportunities and beautiful people I’ve been able to meet, I’ve seen more of God’s contentment and simplicity in life. Thank you greatly, Abba, for this country and these experience and these people. Thank you for weekends in the mountains with my new friends, thank you for the joy that the women in the red light district give me, thank you for the little girls in the ballet class, thank you for Friday nights with the best community out in the streets of San José, thank you for Tico church services, thank you for everything. Thank you for the contentment you’ve give me in the simple things.
