While I would like to say that I am amazing at home improvement projects, I typically mess them up one way or another. So far, I have had two noticeably big “mess ups” while working around the house, and I am going to sacrifice my pride and share them with you.

The first “mess up” involves spilling black stain down tan carpeted stairs. While staining the railing next to the stairs only took about 2 hours, cleaning up the spill took about 3. The next would be when I spray painted the built in bathroom cabinet above my toilet. Apparently spray paint fumes do eventually fall to the ground, and they will stick to your mom’s brand new tile. This took about 2 hours to scrub up, while the actual spray painting only took about 10 minutes….

I guess what I am trying to say is that 1) I suck at home improvement projects and 2) I have spent a lot of time lately washing floors.

And you know what I learned?

I learned that Jesus is washing my floors too.

The last few weeks have felt like lots of mess ups and failures. Failures in communicating, failures in friendships, failures in not meeting the standards I hold myself too. I have not been perfect in any way- in fact I have been far from it. Thankfully there is no such thing as a perfect Christian.

But you know what? Jesus is washing my floors. He sees my spills, my mistakes, and he simply gets down and starts scrubbing. He gives me another chance, time and time again. He gives grace upon grace upon grace, which means I don’t have to hide my failures from him. He already knows the ways I fall short, but the good news is that he fills in my gaps.

So yah, I mess up 24/7. But my sweet Father is reminding me that there is grace and redemption. He is showing me that he is always going to be there to wash my floors.
