20 Days countdown before WR Training Camp!

I needed to make the 5k goal by the end of September, and by the grace of God, my goal has been met, enabling me to go to Atlanta, Georgia for training camp!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed this far and keeping me in your prayers. You are amazing! I am setting my sites on the next goal to meet $10k by November 24thI would greatly appreciate your continued prayer and support as I am fundraising!

TRAINING CAMP

In October, I am flying to Atlanta for a tenday Training Camp, where I will meet my squad members face to face for the first time. We will be a Squad of around 40 people who will go on the same route together. These people will be my family for next year. Throughout the year, our Squad will be split up into smaller Teams of around six people, doing Ministry together in each Country. At the end of a Month all the Teams, who are spread over the whole country, will meet together to debrief, then move on to the next country.

What is going to happen at Training Camp?

So far, we don’t know exactly what is going to happen, but I have heard several stories from former Racers. For sure there will be a fitness test, were we all need to hike with all our baggage 2.2 miles in 38 min. There will be an African day, were all women need to wear long skirts. Also, we heard that there will be a simulation of a layover at the airport were we all sleep in the dining hall the whole nightlistening to airport announcements. At Training Camp there will be 4 Squads participating, and each Squad is traveling different journey route,s touching different countriesThere is a fun competition called Squad Wars and they have already begun, where we need to do different challenges as a Squad. For each Challenge our Squad wins, we get points. At Training Camp, the Challenges continue, and our Squad is motivated to win. Next to all these fun things, there will be lots of good Worship Sessions and Devotion time, receiving a lot of helpful information as well.

I need all of my gear by training camp, since this will be a 10-day “test run” for the World Race.

What I’ve been doing to get ready:

  • Purchasing Gear (and I still have some things left to buy!!! Time is ticking!)

  • Training for the fitness test! I need to do a lot more with my pack in the next few weeks!? If anyone wants to assist in my training, let me know 😉

  • Fundraising

  • Taking 17 credits at Whitworth University

  • Working 4 part-time jobs

THE WORLD RACE –

For those of you that haven’t seen my earlier blog post. The World Race is a Christian organization that allows young adults from the ages of 21-35 to serve as short-term missionaries.

Beginning on January 3rd, I will join the World Race and serve on Route 2 which includes the countries of Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru.

The purpose of World Race mission is to serve alongside ministries already established in each country. The World Race is associated with more than 1,000 ministry partners in 80+ countries to serve the unreachedI believe partnership in the gospel can be such a powerful way to serve the World by serving alongside of the people who live locally, who see the community every day, and who know how to best to love their people. Some of the ministries I will be doing may include teaching English, reaching sex-trafficking victims, leading worship, praying for the sick, orphans, prisoners, the malnourished and serving those in need.

As you can read there is a lot happening until I leave in January.

In order to pursue this ministry, I need to raise over $18,200 of support. The funds raised with your support will cover my field costs such as flights, housing, food, etc. for all 11 months of the ministry. Those are the tangible things your donation will help support.? In reality, your donation will support so much more. It will support church planting in unreached areas, prayer for the sick in hospitals, and ministering to children who have been victims of sex-trafficking.

All donations apply 100% toward my mission trip and are tax deductible. If you are not able to give at this time, I would still greatly appreciate your prayer and support as I am fundraising!

Please help me reach these upcoming fundraising goals:
