On May 16th, I was baptized!

For many years, I felt God telling me to take the step to rededicating my life to be baptized, presenting me with endless opportunities for it, but I kept putting it off. I made excuses, telling myself I wasn’t ready, or not now, and ignored His call. I was living life in a day by day routine, just going through the motions. Living a lukewarm faith left me without purpose or direction. I finally made the choice and turn myself completely over to God and His plans, knowing that being baptized was the first step toward obedience in my life journey. Baptism is a way to outwardly proclaim turning my life over completely to God, surrounded by others to help me be accountable.

Spring semester, I took a class called, “Spanish and Christian Ministry.” I formed a close relationship with everyone in the class, and we had great fellowship. One day, our discussion was about baptism, and I could feel God putting this on my heart in that moment—and instead of suppressing the feeling, I acted. I planned with my professor to have her baptize me with the class and my family joining in as witnesses. I was surprised and blessed to see everyone come together in support in my decision. The entire day felt so surreal and joyous, and I knew that God was pleased. When God has a plan for your life, He will make doors and opportunities open, creating a path to guide you and he doesn’t give up on me. In my journey throughout life, I am learning to have faith in God that He will provide a way, He is ever present.

In years to come, I know that I will look back on this as a breakthrough in my faith and trust in His plans. Through all different parts of life, I am learning to lean into God. I am ready to take the next step in faith by going into the the far corners of the world.
