The World Race is an 11 country, 11 month mission trip to serve people around the World, to bring hope to the hopeless by sharing the love of God. About 4500 World Racers already worked with 1150 Partners in more than 80 countries.
One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. In a group of about 50 people we are travelling to these countries: Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, and South Africa. In each country we will be split into teams of 5-8 people, and we will be partnering with existing ministries along our way. Our ministry will look different in every country but will most likely include some of the following: orphan care, street ministry, rehabilitating women rescued from the sex trafficking industry, disaster relief, caring for the homeless, serving in refugee camps, evangelism, church planting, and hospital visits.
My journey starts in January 2019 and will end in November 2019. It’s a big step to leave my family and friends, my home, the country and even my comfort zone behind to go into the nations and make this difference. Even though I love to travel and be away from home it kind off scares me but I know it’s the right step and the right time for it.
During the last weeks of preparation this one song always came up to my mind and I’d like to share this with you. It’s a Swiss German song but even if you don’t understand it, you should listen to it. It’s a good one. The song called «Offnigs Land» (open land) is from a Church called icf Zürich in Switzerland. These lyrics made me thoughtful. I realized that I don’t leave home because my home is where God is. It doesn’t matter where I’m travelling to and if there is running Water, WIFI or even a bed, he will always be with me. I don’t need to be scared by any circumstance.
Um was geht es beim World Race?
Das World Race ist ein 11 Länder, 11 Monate Missionseinsatz um Menschen auf der ganzen Welt zu dienen, Hoffnung den Hoffnungslosen zu bringen indem wir die Liebe Gottes weitergeben. Rund 4500 Teilnehmer haben bereits mit 1150 Partnern in mehr als 80 verschiedenen Länder gearbeitet.
Eines der einzigartigen Dinge am World Race ist, dass es nicht nur ein Missionseinsatz ist, sondern auch ein intensives Jüngerschaftstraining, gemacht um meiner Generation in ihre spezifische Berufung zu führen. In einer Gruppe von ca. 50 Personen werden wir diese Länder bereisen: Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, Indonesien, Vietnam, Kambodscha, Thailand, Botswana, Swasiland, Lesotho und Süd Afrika. In jedem Land werden wir in Teams von 5-8 Personen aufgeteilt und mit bereits bestehenden Organisationen zusammenarbeiten. Unsere Arbeit wird in jedem Land unterschiedlich aussehen. Meistens wird es einer der folgenden Bereiche betreffen: Um Waisenkinder uns kümmern, Strasseneinsatz, Eingliederung von Frauen, welche von Sexhandel befreit wurden, Katastrophenhilfe, Obdachlosenhilfe, Hilfe in Flüchtlingscamps, Evangelisation, Kirchen gründen und Spital besuche.
Meine Reise startet im Januar 2019 und endet im November 2019. Es ist ein grosser Schritt meine Familie und Freunde, mein zu Hause, meine Heimat und auch meine Komfortzone zu verlassen, um die Welt zu bereisen und einen Unterschied zu machen. Auch wenn ich es liebe zu reisen und weg von zu Hause zu sein, habe ich trotzdem meine bedenken aber ich weiss es ist das richtig für mich und genau zum richtigen Zeitpunkt.
Während den letzten Wochen in der Vorbereitung für das kommende Jahr kam immer wieder dieses Lied in meinen Kopf und dies möchte ich gerne mit euch teilen. Das Lied heisst «Offnigs Land» und ist vom icf Zürich. Im Refrain heisst es:

Dieser Songtext hat mich zum nachdenken gebracht. Ich habe verstanden, dass ich mein zu Hause nicht verlasse, weil mein zu Hause ist dort, wo Gott ist. Egal wohin ich reise und ob es da fliessend Wasser, Internet oder ein Bett gibt, er wird bei mir sein. Ich muss mich vor nichts fürchten.
