There is one thing I had no idea what it would look like on the World Race. Honestly, even in month 7 I couldn’t write a detailed definition about what Team Time is. Meaning the only definition I could give is Team Time is time with your team.
And that is it.
Team Time can be serious, goofy, naptime, Bible studies, games, dance parties, prophesying over one another, and so much more. That is why it can’t be defined specifically, because it can be whatever we decide it should be.
This last week we had a team time called The Pot. Nikki was leading it and had us all take turns going into the pot and closing our eyes as our teammates spoke encouraging things they have noticed about us. It was such a beautiful time and yes, tears were shed.
I am not going to share everything that was said because those were our special moments.
But, I do want to share something that happened while I was in the pot.
My team was speaking over me things that they saw in me and every single thing was something that was not true about me a few years ago.
I used to pray for boldness. I prayed for confidence. I struggled through self-esteem. I didn’t always allow myself to be free to be myself. I hid behind make-up and curled hair.
Hearing my team saying so many things over me and realizing how much this means I have grown was incredible. I am so happy God brought the growth to my attention. It would have been easy to hear those things and be encouraged immensely, but opening the conversation up to God allowed me to see the growth.
Sometimes we don’t realize we have grown. We expect the growth immediately then years pass and we are a completely different person. We don’t see it until we reflect or God reminds us.
Think about your old prayers:
What did you ask God to do?
What did you ask God to reveal to you?
What did you want to change about yourself that you could not have done without God’s help?
Reflection isn’t always fun, we have to do it monthly and some people don’t love those days.
To me they are some of my favorite parts of each month. Yes they mean the month is ending soon so typically I get a little sad, but I get to monthly think back and see what God has done. We are even encouraged to think of the month ahead of us and ask God to do something or help us do something. Then at the end of the next month we get to do it all over again.
I encourage you to think through those questions I listed above, and even create some of your own questions as you reflect.
Also know, things take time, God doesn’t always say yes or no, sometimes He says wait.
