This month two of our three teams partnered with Youth For Christ Botswana.

My first two weeks were spent at Tapo Logo Daycare Center. There wasn’t a real need for us at the Daycare because the women that work there are doing well on their own. What we were able to do was build relationships with the women and love on all the kids. We got to cook with “Mama”, paint the teachers fingernails, and they even came over one night to help us cook an African meal. The children entertain themselves most days so we had so much fun being able to love them and play with them everyday!

Our last two weeks in Botswana were spent at one of the local primary schools teaching. Youth for Christ has built really strong relationships with the schools in the area and they are given the opportunity to go in during the students guidence classes to teach. This was, to my surprise, my favorite part of Botswana! We went in classes each day to teach life lessons such as goal building and self-esteem. With these life lessons we has the freedom to incorporate our beliefs. We got to share Jesus with hundreds of students! The very week that I started teaching we spoke on Self-esteem. I was able to speak confidently about my journey with Christ. God has given me a lot this year on Value and His love for me. To share that with students who may be feeling the way I did for so many years was scary and exciting all in one.

On a similar note, we held a Beauty for Ashes event for some of the local girls. Again, I was given the opportunity to share with them their value and worth in Christ.

I’m giving God all the praise and thankfulness this month for the ways he used my team and I to speak to the youth of Mochudi.
