So, I just spent 45 minutes of my team blogging time writing a super funny, witty blog only to have it all erased because I don’t know how to use a Chromebook. After a 10 minute break to go get ice cream, here I am rewriting it from memory.
Moving to a different country can be difficult no matter how long you stay. In my situation, leaving the country for 9 months to share the Gospel can be difficult. Mandatory team blogging time can be difficult. Some things are more painful than others, but you get the point. I’ve been trying to write a blog since we got to Thailand like 5 days ago. My mom even told me to write a blog, and do you know what I told her? I said, “I’ll write a blog when I’m ready to write a blog.” However, what I should have said was, “I’ll write a blog when my alumni team leader Zibby tells me to write a blog” because here I am, one day later, writing a blog with the rest of my team.
My team is working with a women’s ministry this month, and if you were wondering what that looked like, it looks like a whole lot of painting. We are working at a “safe house” that is home to many women that work at the coffee shop downstairs. We love them. A team of missionaries had previously come and painted the inside of the house. They each left their own mark in the form of beautiful murals, but the women living there now would like to make it their own. So, we’re painting. Before we started painting, we spent some time in prayer and then wrote in pencil on the walls words we felt the Lord declaring over each space.
Some highlights:
- Abundant Freedom
- Beloved (on every wall in two of the rooms)
- His
- Immeasurably more
- Powerful
- Protector
- Fearless
- Worthy
- Coveted
- Covered
- Fierce Leader
- Beloved Child
- Precious Friend
- Grace
Those are just some of the things written on each wall, but we filled up two pieces of paper torn out of a journal. We wrote each thing down on the page to give the women in the rooms so even though they can’t see the words after they’re painted over, they’ll know what we pray over each of them. So if you would like to, you can pray those words over the women living in that house.
We’ve done a lot since arriving in Thailand, but this is just a glimpse of what I’ll be doing for the next 9 months. Thanks for the endless love and support, I appreciate everyone who has helped get me all the way here. Lookout for some more updates because God is doing some cool things.
Lots of love,
Claire
