It was spoken over my team by a squad leader our team would be like a Ferris wheel and this Ferris wheel imagery would mean different things to people on the team. For some members of the team, the thought of a Ferris wheel is terrifying. They associate Ferris wheels with heights and the thought of being high off the ground gives them an uneasy feeling. For other members of the team, the Ferris wheel sounds like an adventure, an opportunity to be embraced and welcomed. For some members of the team, it serves as a reminder the Ferris wheel is not ridden alone. There needs to be other people on the Ferris wheel because there needs to be an even distribution of weight.
We got the opportunity to ride a Ferris wheel in Vietnam and it was a powerful time of reflection for us as a team. During the Ferris wheel ride, I pondered upon the fact I am placing lots of trust in things I cannot see. I could not see every nook and cranny of the Ferris Wheel holding it together. The Ferris wheel felt like a slow ride to get to the top, but the beautiful view of the city was absolutely worth it. I wanted to enjoy the view of the city of Da Nang Vietnam as long as I could, but eventually we had to come down. It was a reminder to me that there will be days on the World Race that feel ordinary and mundane. There will be days I may feel like I am not making a direct impact on anyone’s life. Some days will feel like I am at the top of a Ferris Wheel thriving and enjoying the ride. I may see lots of fruit of the work I am doing and it will feel incredible. Every Ferris wheel has to circle back down and some days on the Race will be hard and discouraging, but the the joyful days are absolutely worth it. I am excited to see how the image of a Ferris Wheel comes to fruition on this team.
Prayer request: We will be traveling to Cambodia on May 29th. Please pray for safe travels to Cambodia and the Lord would begin to prepare our hearts for the work we will be doing in Cambodia. My team will be in Battambang, Cambodia partnering with Ezra Ministries teaching English.
