This morning my team went to the dump. Recently a group of about 4 women started cooking meals and taking it to the dump to feed the people lunch that work there. They started doing this once a week, now it’s up to twice and the goal is for it to be 3 times a week. They are doing this because the people at the dump are those that are from the very low income class of people so most of them don’t have food to eat.
The people that work there are the 3rd round of people that get to pick through all the trash for anything valuable, which would be mainly recyclables. They then sell the stuff they find to make about 20 dollars a month which is near to nothing. To explain the round of people that get to pick through the trash would be the 1st round is those that pick up the trash from the streets and what not, they get all the good stuff and for the most part leaving nothing. Then the second round are the people that get the trash on and off the trucks. And the last is those that dig deep in the dump pills with vultures and dogs surrounding them in a race to find something they can sell in hopes to make enough money to put beans and rice on the table for their families.
So today we got to be apart of the amazing way that these women are trying to reach people that think there is no hope in the world.
So we went and some people got to share a quick message about how god wants what’s best for us always. And he loves us always. Then we got to serve them lunch. And i got to fill up peoples water bottles. Wow god is so good even in when there seems to be so much pain and hurt in this world.
