I jumped for joy when I heard my team would be spending a month here. At times, I forget I’m in South America. When we first got here, I’d want to talk to someone in Arabic, Urdu, or Hebrew and have to remind myself that everyone here spoke Spanish. I eventually got the hang of it. Though I love waking up and seeing the sun rays reflect off the sand and feel the cool breeze as we walk through the town, it is not a hard truth to believe that everything in the desert is trying to kill you. I mean, even the trees here are armed with poisonous thorns. I had the unfortunate privilege of experiencing their toxins first hand (no pun intended) and I couldn’t feel my right arm for about a day or so. The new experiences you get while being on The Race.

We leave Peru in a few days and I don’t know if I’m ready to say “goodbye” just yet. I’m excited for life in India but I’m going to miss the relationships I made here. I’m going to miss working in the desert sun, laughing around the dinner table with my team and the Inca Linkers (missionaries staying at the compound who partner with Inca Link), and much much more.

Speaking of India, starting very soon, my blog is going to become password protected during my time in India. Even though I really want to, I also cannot disclose where any of us will be within India and posting will be even more limited than it is now. Please be praying for me and my team as we prepare for a whole new continent and culture! Words cannot express how excited I am for India. Little unknown fact: India is a big reason why I chose this route!

I have a whole blog post coming soon about my entire time here in Peru. I’ll be posting that soon from a very exciting, unplanned, location! Stay tuned!
