“All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before.”

C.S. Lewis, The Last Battle

This is by far one of my favorite moments in the entire Narnia series. Aslan has made the restored Narnia, all his people are with him in his country, and there is nothing but joy and adventure. Wouldn’t it be amazing if that was the world we lived in? Where there was no sadness, no loss of heart, no fear, no pain, no death? Does a world like that exist?

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.’

And the one sitting on the throne said, ‘Look, I am making everything new!’ And then he said to me, ‘Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.'”

Revelation 21:1-5

It honestly takes me forever to read the book of Revelation and even The Last Battle because I get so excited! My heart beats faster and faster when I read “God’s home is now among his people!” or when I read about the stars in Narnia falling and knowing that a brand new world, a brand new Narnia, is about to be introduced within the next couple of pages.

We don’t know what the new earth and new heaven will look like, but we do know that it has to be so beautiful, so outrageously perfect that God had to look at John and basically say, “Yeah, this is real. Now, write it down.”
