Hello, world! Welcome to my first ever blog post! I am SO excited to be joining in The World Race for January 2019! Here is a little taste about my story and where I am with God! I will be unpacking my story and how God is working in my life as time goes on.
Here we go:
Growing up, it was me, my mom, and my sister (Kaitlyn). I grew up in the church so Jesus and God were names I was very familiar with. I gave my life to Jesus, and started to serve in the preschool ministry all around the age of ten. Little did I know, I would fall in love serving God by teaching preschoolers, playing with them, and praying for them that I’d end up spending the next eight years of my life doing that very thing every Sunday. God grabbed ahold of me through my serving, but I was very broken. Even from a young age, there was this brokenness that I felt.
Like many others, I grew up without my dad in the home. My parents were young and didn’t know. They broke up, went their separate ways before finding out my mom was pregnant with me. Most of that is their story so they are the rightful ones to tell any more of it. I met my dad on my fourth birthday where I learned that I had more siblings! Who doesn’t want that?! More brothers and sisters means more friends to play with and more adventures to be had! No longer would it just be me and Kaitlyn but now I had: Kayla, Alexa, and River! Wooo! Right away, I loved them. I still do! I’m not perfect at reaching out to them. Life gets in the way and sometimes it is the people you care about most that get dealt the biggest blow of neglect. It’s something I’m working on, though. More of this side of the family adventures will be told with future blog posts!
My family has played a big part in my life in both negative and positive ways. The way I viewed my dad was the way I viewed God, and seeing my mom grow in her faith has captured my heart and I have not seen or met another person whose relationship with Jesus is as deep and intimate.
I’m very excited to unpack more and more of my story through future blogs and show how God has been incredibly faithful through every season of life. ALSO I’m super excited to share my story with people all around the world through my time with The World Race!
Donating can be scary or uncomfortable and can even feel one sided at times but I want to invest my time, energy, and prayers to all of you who decide to donate your money and time for me to go on this trip. I cannot do this without you and this can open up a whole new world of community with one another! I will do everything I can to make you feel as if you are right there with me experiencing all that God is doing in the lives of so many.
Paul would begin his letters to the different churches stating how thankful he was of them and their love for one another. He knew they would lift him up in prayer. We think of Paul as a lone wolf who tackled the world on his own, but the reality is he was backed up by the believers the Holy Spirit impacted through him. So, we see that Paul’s ministry was also driven by other believers all over the known world. That’s crazy!!! What?! They were as much a part to the changing of the world and the spreading of the Gospel as Paul was. Let’s come together as the body, right now. Let’s be a part of what God wants to in the lives of people who may never know our names but their hearts and eternity can be changed through the support of this trip and praying for God to move radically in the ministry of The World Race!
I can’t wait to hear back from you! Leave a comment on this blog, or message me on any social media! Let’s do this community thing right!
