Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting my page, I’m excited to walk through this journey together with you, and I appreciate all of your support.
To introduce myself, my name is Brendan DeJonge (De-Young, weird Dutch people) and I’m from Arvada, Colorado (The Rad Arvad). Currently I am attending Colorado State University as a Freshman in Mechanical Engineering, but I am so excited for what is in store for me next year on the Race.
A little about me:
I race (and crash) mountain bikes down hills. I love skis, motorcycles, skateboards, cars and just about every other thing that can make me go fast. I’m an aspiring rock climber, but quite novice. I’m always down for a pickup soccer game. If you dislike puns then you may want to keep your distance. My favorite color is crimson, and my favorite number is 37. I try my best to live by Psalm 23, it’s my favorite passage of scripture. I can dabble on the guitar and love singing in choral groups. I’m a fan of building things and am grateful to be working for a bicycle company fabricating frames.
I have a rockstar little brother in 5th grade. Love my parents, who inspire me every day. Love my awesome community with the Navigators at CSU and my roommate Christian Atkins (who races bikes down hills even faster) who has been so instrumental in walking with me as I chase after Jesus. I’m so thankful to everyone who has helped me get this far, and I will miss you all.
Most of all, I love the Lord and desire relationship with Jesus. I stand in awe in the wake of His power, and continually marvel about how He could love a broken person like me to the point of death. I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to pursue Him all over the world next year, and I know he will do amazing things as a result. I’m excited to be pushed outside my comfort zone so that I can grow into the man that He desires me to be. Man, God is good!
Anyway, thank you again for checking out my page. I hope you can find encouragement from my blog as I go on the Race, and I hope I can be a light. The path the Lord has me on is unknown, but I’m ready to venture.
Brendan
