Apple red happiness is a song we sang at my elementary school. I don’t quite remember all the lyrics, but basically it talks about all the great things that come with becoming and being a christian. And for the most part this is true, you do receive great joy and happiness from God. However, it isn’t always as cheerful as this song lets on. Being a christian is hard, constantly battling the desires of our sinful hearts and our flesh is difficult. Knowing ourselves enough to see our own failings takes alot of self awareness, and it can be very difficult to get to that point. Seeing that we don’t always have it great, seeing the rough roads ahead, and still persevering on, that is what makes a strong christian. We can be filled with God’s joy at all times, but we don’t have to always be happy. It’s ok to be sad, it’s ok to have doubts, it’s ok to be scared, it’s where you end up that matters.
