Happiness, what does it mean to be happy? The dictionary defines happiness as “a state of being happy”. Synonyms are contentment, pleasure, joy, but what does it truly mean to be happy? To some it means love or human connection, to others it is material possessions, to others it means fame or power. To me it means being able to wake up and go out and live without fear. Without fear of death, fear of pain, fear of life, to be able to live life to the fullest. As I sit in my church listening to the pastor I realize that to do this I may have to sacrifice comfort, safety, and warmth. In order to serve my God to the fullest, I must discover His purpose for my life. For so long I have just lived life casually and just floated along, hoping my life’s purpose would just fall into my lap. Then I realized I had to get away from my comfort zone, from the normalcy of the life I live, and get to a place where I can really serve people, change lives for the better, mine and those I hope to serve. In order to be truly happy, we must have a purpose, and this upcoming trip may illuminate mine. I pray God uses me in ways I can’t comprehend. And I pray I will be able to see His plan for me.
