The people of Antofagasta, Chile are some of the most loving, beautiful, welcoming, and hospitable people I have ever done life with.
From the moment we arrived, I have felt so confident in where we were placed and excited for the relationships around us.
My prayer for my time here in Chile is that I may see the character of the Lord through His people that He has allowed me to cross paths with.
The Lord has shown me His character of unconditional love through the children in our host home. They know absolutely nothing about who I am or even the language I speak, yet they come running every time they see me. They jump into my arms and embrace me with a love that I cannot fully understand. A love without reason. A love I did not earn or have to prove myself to gain.
The Lord has shown me His welcoming heart, the way He invites each of us to His Heavenly table, through our host families. Each family that my team is staying with this month is so eager to invite us into their homes, for us to sit and eat and simply spend time in each others presence. They are quick to welcome us in, show us their homes, listen to our lives, and treat us to some yummy Chilean food. A welcoming heart that reminds me of the Lord’s table and the dwelling place He has prepared for His children.
The Lord has shown me His desire for my heart above all things through my teammates. They each carry a bold pursuit for intentionality. Above all, they have tapped into a vulnerable side of myself that I truly did not know existed. My team has listened to my story, strived to love me better everyday, and given me a confidence in who the Lord made me to be.
I am eager to see the Lord’s character more and more as He reveals Himself to me through my times in prayer and my times engaging with His people.
