In part one of this story, I shared how I learned the importance of surrendering the outcome of my fundraising efforts to the Lord. In the second half, you will see how it doesn’t take long to allow the old thoughts to creep back in. Surrender isn’t a one time deal. It’s a choice to be made over and over.

Just a few short weeks after I received such an encouraging boost to my World Race fund, I was again starting to feel discouraged. I was thinking about what I should do next for a fundraiser and obsessing over the support letter I had been writing. In the solitude of my commute home from work one night, I caught myself worrying about these things. Instead of perseverating, I pursued my Jesus. I shared these overwhelming thoughts with Him and left them there. I prayed that He would show me that He’s got this and specifically prayed that the funds would keep coming in.

I got home from work to find an envelope. I opened the note card filled with encouraging words and 11 one hundred dollar bills. I cried. How amazing is it that God answered my prayer before I even spoke the words. He used the willing heart of a friend to fulfill my request before I even made it. Why do I ever question that He can orchestrate this? He cares so much for me that He meets my needs before I utter a word. Out of all the people in the world, He hears me and helps me.

Maybe you have no idea what I’m talking about. You’re wondering how I can talk to God, how does he have time to care about the small parts of my life. Well, I am living proof that He hears, He sees, He cares because I have experienced it time and time again. Maybe this sounds too good to be true or you’re thinking “good for you but it’s not for me.” Well, it could be for you. God wants a relationship with each of us.

I’d be happy to share more about how having a relationship with God has changed my life. Please reach out, comment or send me a message. If you have previously given your life to the Lord but have stepped away from Him, now is the time for surrender. He sees your heart, He’s ready to hear your prayer because He cares so much for you. Today is the perfect day to make it right by giving your life back to Him.

1 Peter 5:6-7 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
