Colombia (and Me)
This the first blog of eleven where I introduce the countries I’ll be serving in! In addition, I’ll also share a bit about me: my personality, my fears, my favorites, my hopes. I hope you find this interesting!
Colombia, located in South America, has a population of 50 million people with a GDP per capita of $15,000, and has the forth-largest economy in South America.
Ecologically, it is one of the world’s 17 megadiverse countries, and the most densely biodiverse of these per square kilometer.
There are many species unique to the country, including the Blossomcrown Hummingbird, the Colombian Woolly Monkey, and the Indigo Winged Parrot:

Colombia is the only country in South America that has coastlines on both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, and it’s on the equator, so I’m expecting lots of sun and hot temperatures!
Values and Beliefs: the Catholic Church has had a huge role in the development of Colombian society, and 95% of the population is Catholic. The family is the most important social unit, so when it comes to allocating time and money, family takes priority.
Finally, Colombia is BEAUTIFUL. Seriously.

Now a bit about me!
I studied Sociology/Anthropology, French, and Leadership in college.
My middle name is Caitlyn.
I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
My personality type is INFX.
I became a Christian at a very young age, and really started to grow in my faith when I went to college.
When I was a child, I wanted to grow up to be a veterinarian.
I live abroad in South Korea, teaching English and eating a lot of kimbap (I teach 500 middle schoolers in 3 schools).
And…
Some of my favorite cities in the world are: Seoul, Ho Chi Minh, Chiang Mai, New York City, and Venice.
Thanks for reading! Tune in next time for a blog on Ecuador!
