I have learned that Jesus will meet me RIGHT where I am. No matter the feeling I may be having, Jesus has met me there and taken that feeling captive. Last weekend I was feeling so homesick that I didn’t even want to leave our house or talk to anyone other than my team of girls. After many conversations with leadership I got rid of the feeling and came up with a schedule of things that needed to happen for me to overcome the feelings. God didn’t just let this pass, He told me I needed to study His Word by beginning in Matthew. So I obeyed the Lord and begun reading in Matthew 1.

Matthew 1 tells about how Joseph obeyed the Lord. Mary and Joseph were engaged, Mary got pregnant (while still being a virgin) so Joseph decided to break off the engagement. Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him and he decided in the morning to listen to the Lord and marry Mary.

Matthew 2 gives another example of how Joseph obeyed the Lord. An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph again and told him to take Mary and the Jesus to Israel. When they arrived, the angel warned him about the ruler being Herod’s son, so they obeyed the warning and moved to Nazareth.

Matthew 3 shows us how Jesus went to the Jordan River to be baptized by John the Baptist. John tried to talk Jesus out of it but it didn’t work because Jesus said “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.”  Long story short, John the Baptist obeyed and baptized Jesus.

In Matthew 4, Jesus says to follow Him and He would show Simon and Peter how to fish for people. So they left their nets there and followed him. A little further up the river they saw James and John and called them to follow them as well. James and John left their nets and their father to follow the Lord.

Matthew 5 teaches us that if we ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom. But if you obey and teach God’s law, you will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Overall the theme of what I have been meditating on is to obey the Lord. I don’t know what this looks like for me, but I know God will reveal it to me when the time is right.

I want to challenge you, yes you, no matter where you are in the world, to do the same. Lets focus our lives on obeying the Lord because through that you will receive healing, miracles, blessings, and so much more.

What a beautiful name Jesus is.
