As I decided to sit outside this morning spending time with God and doing a devotional, my mind began to wonder. Staring at my cup of coffee, I couldn’t help but think about how hard it has been to fundraise for World Race and some of the struggles I have had to face. Then I read the verse of the day and it was spot on for exactly what I’m going through at the moment.
“Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.”
Psalms 55:22
This just really gave me a since of peace as I go through this process I am in right now. I am in this state of worry about whether the money will come in on time and if I will be going on World Race Gap Year. Reading this verse just reassured me though, that no matter what happens, God is right there by my side walking me through it all. It also reminded me that God wants us to be honest and vulnerable with Him, letting Him know our struggles. He wants us to lift those struggles up to Him and let Him handle it. Even when I mess up and wander off, He’s still with me urging me to turn back to Him.
Later that day I was in my car listening to Christian radio and a song I really like came on. It was just even more of a since of peace God was gifting me with today. The song is by Tenth Avenue North and from the very beginning, this song just speaks to me with how I feel so clueless and lost at times. In this song though, it just reminds us to hold on to hope in God in the good times and bad.
“As I walk this great unknown
Questions come and questions go
Was there purpose for the pain?
Did I cry these tears in vain?
I don’t want to live in fear
I want to trust that You are near
Trust Your grace can be seen
In both triumph and tragedy
I have this hope
In the depth of my soul
In the flood or the fire
You’re with me and You won’t let go”
No matter what pain or difficulty you are going through, take all of that hurt and lay it before God. We as humans tend to try and take control of situations and have a hard time giving it up, but God is asking that you just trust His process and look to Him to guide your life in every situation that comes our way.
