I wrote this back in September I believe and honestly, this is a writing style and idea that comes from a vulnerable place of my life. It’s something I am beginning to understand, desire, and seek in all the things that I do. I encourage you to sit with the Lord and allow Him to speak into your (creative) life. The inherency of ability awaits untapped and only requires courage. I hope this resonates and shares a bit more of how my mind is changing through this adventure. Great Love for you. – Will

P.S. The main reason I titled this blog “Throwback Thoughts Series,” is because I want to start something. I want to hear YOUR stories. They can be of dreams, adventures, motivators, or really anything that incites passion in your speech or laugh or life. This could be an easy thing for you to rattle off the top of your head or the first time you’ve heard of “dreaming with the Lord.” It will be everything you allow it to be. PLEASE e-mail me at [email protected] with all your stories and memories. I can’t wait to join you in this – Will

What dreamers do. (Throwback Thoughts)

I was raised by a dreamer. I’ve seen a business built from the basement of an abandoned dime store to an overflowing, well-groomed operation. I’ve seen early morning and late nights spent for the sake of integrity. I have seen great leaps of uncertainty in the name of faith. Trust in the Lord practiced over and over and over again. I’ve seen sacrifice over safety. I’ve seen compassion and intimacy for the CEO and common white-collar. I’ve seen a dreamer. I’ve watched my dad.
If there is anything that I have learned in the process of being under a man like this is that you must give up a life of ease, quiet, quick-returns, and monotony to see a dream. Some dreams it seems are born out the mind of the blessed few who it comes natural, however; I firmly believe all have the ability. Dreaming is of our basic nature. Our God who sits in heaven has not only the most creative mind of ever, but created us who do the same. In which, we have the opportunity to glorify Him. Even in our rebellion, we can’t but help glorify God. Much like a comparison once made, even in our sinful pursuit of gold and silver, we extol the worth of the Lord. For our sin even shouts His praises.
So dreamers seem to be of a brand many of us can’t relate, or purchase. Nevertheless, one cloud away from sunshine I believe most of us rest with our rain jackets and umbrella. Why? Dreaming is a scary activity that demands chance, hope, intimacy, and abandonment. Not the dreaming that leads our brains to having a materialist goal, but a gospel gun-slinging mindset with purpose of setting souls free. Haha. For us a Christians, I believe we will always have the greatest motivation to dream. I don’t know a better end game of dreaming than eternity. We’ve got forever.

Our creative gene is the universe. Woah. My earthly dad built a business, my ABBA-Father built existence. What I am beginning to realize is that we can fit ourselves into the boxes that we create for ourselves, and even society at times. If you wear this, act like this, smell like this, like this, listen to this, or hate this, you undoubtedly belong “here.” Pishposh. You have the ability to dream and create under the God of all life and eternal rule. If He guides you away from one dream, He has a better platform for YOU to dream again. So what does dreaming look like?
Looking around your life and picking up the leftovers and untouched potential can leave you amazed. Looking out the window is a great motivation, too. But ultimately, the AWESOMEST motivation I believe is communion with the Lord you can’t help but share. Love, joy, peace, hope, and freedom are a few. Activist surround themselves with activists. If all our of dreams can produce a new life with Christ, then the common denominator has to be obedience. The great news is, there are no guarantees in dreams either. Only promises.
The Lord has promises good for those he loves. The Lord has promised life to the full, not full a one. The Lord has promised trials and difficulty, yet total and utter commitment. The Lord has promised brothers and sisters along the way to work with. The Lord has promised , at the end of it all, glory for you and I. The Lord has promised us a bomb dinner in Heaven, too. However, no guarantees of what your life will look like, or who you will marry, or what trials are on the horizon. So when we dream, we run with the promises of the Father. Where you run and to whom is all up to you now.

So run darling, run.
