I was asked to write this blog by one of my coaches from The Race. A few weeks ago we celebrated Purim. Purim is the festival celebrated in the book of Esther, where Esther saves the Jewish people from being killed and during the story one of the highlights is Mordecai utters the line “For Such a Time as This.”
I believe this is the moment that we find ourselves in now. We currently find ourselves in quarantine because of the covid-19 virus. It has everyone in their house, with a lot of free time. For some its horrible, they’re bored, they may be in abusive relationships, they’re jobless (I’m in this category), and things just seem hopeless. For others its the opposite, they see this time as a time of rest and to just pause and take in what the Lord is doing. Its bringing the families back together, people are now eating at the table, playing games, working puzzles and really slowing down and focusing on each other and 9urselves.
Coming home from the Race a few months ago something I struggled with was the fast pace nature of The States. After being gone for the 11 months and at times not knowing what each day held and having tons of down time, it became my way of life. I’m also a fast paced person, I love the chaos of working a black Friday or being slammed during a rush while working as a server. But I came home missing the slowness of life outside the U.S. so I’ve found myself thriving during this time of the virus.
Thats where I want to speak to those of us that are now Alumni, whether you completed the whole 11 months, or you had to come home in month 3. We find ourselves at an advantage during this time. We’ve done the community living, we’ve done feedback, we know what it looks like to walk in Kingdom and to find it in the small and still moments. What an opportunity we now have!
For most of us we’re at home, probably with family and not really knowing what to do. You may be questioning why God brought you home early or why things are the way they are. Can I pose a question to you?
What if He has us at home to be the leaders and stewards of the revival that’s happening in the family unit?
The church was created to be a family, we were never meant to do life alone. We’re supposed to have our tribe and do life and Kingdom together. We’ve done the dang thing!! We know how to steward community and family dinners and bring Kingdom where we’re at. So can I challenge you with that? Can you look past your circumstance and ask Him what He’s doing? Can we as Racers be the vessels that He uses to bring people back to the family and steward the revival that is coming to the U.S.?
