It’s well into month 11 and I’m finally writing an update. For this month our squad is hiking El Camino de Santiago or The Way of St. James. My group and I took the central route which was 237 km or just under 150 miles of hiking from Portugal to Spain.
The first day was rough with hiking right at 20 miles when we expected to hike 13, but sometimes life is like that. It was filled with tired bodies, aching feet and plenty of blisters. The 2and day wasnt much better and me and one of my teammates took a taxi to the next town. After a couple of days of taxis/buses and a doctors visit it was decided that we could no longer finished so 4 of us took a train the rest of the way to Santiago, and the others joined us the next day. Talk about a pride killer.
I’m a competitive person and I love to finish what I started, so for me not being able to finish the hike was painful. But the Lord told me that it was to finish killing out the last of my pride, something I thought I’ve dealt with already. But pride is one of those things that becomes deep rooted and even when you think you’ve got it all it suddenly comes back. So that’s what the Camino was for me. It was a time of getting the remnants of those roots that had been left. It was painful, it was a struggle but it was well worth it. We also o ly have 12 days of the World Race left which is crazy, so I’ll be making some more posts over the next few days.
