I tell people this statement all the time “I’m not an evangelist.” Now I know what you’re thinking, “You’re a missionary, what do you mean you’re not an evangelist?” I mean that I don’t feel called to evangelism, yes I tell people about Jesus and hope that Holy Spirit will call them into Union with Him, but my first instinct isn’t to tell people about it or go door to door and do that. Will I do it if that what our ministry is or I’m asked you? Absolutely, but I’d much rather pray for healing for people or ask God what He wants to say to someone and work that way. Today, is a Logistics day for me so I’m at a coffee shop doing stuff for the upcoming month and submitting expenses and stuff online, but while doing this I’m listening to Todd White teach on Healing on Youtube. He’s telling a story about a guy he met at Mcdonalds and everything that happened there and he makes the statement “The picture in our heads of an Evangelist is a guy that just preaches”
BAM! CONVICTION!
If you had asked me what evangelism was I would have said this very thing. But he goes on to talk about how praying for people is evangelism and how when people get healed it opens up the door for them to meet Jesus. The miraculous opens the doors that words can’t, people can dismiss words but when their leg gets healed, or their back gets healed by Jesus they can’t deny what just happened. That is evangelism! So I’d like to reintroduce myself (This is the word the Lord gave me for this month as well) as Tyler Inman, the Evangelist!
My prayer for you is that you would consider a change in the definition of Evangelism its not just preaching, and the Gospel is not just telling people about Jesus, it’s also demonstrating it as well.
