My family and I have sponsored a few kids over the years, and I would write letters and sent gifts, but never really got to see the impact that it was having on them. However, that all changed here in India!
One of my teams’ ministry was to help distribute uniforms, books and take pictures for Sponsored Kiddos.
It was such a blessing to get to see, and be a part of the other side of the process. I got to see the kids eyes light up at the sight of their school books, the smile as they felt their new school uniforms, and their happiness to receive a letter from their Sponsors.
It truly was so encouraging to see how excited these kids were at the opportunity to go to school, because of the love of a person/family who decided to sacrifice some of their money and provide for a child that is not theirs.
I know from experience by being a part of a family who sponsored a child, that it’s sometimes is hard to write a letter to a kid on another continent, but trust me when I tell you that they will treasure that letter! So to all of you who have Sponsor kids, take some time today and write your kids a letter, because something that will only take 15min to write, can have a life-long impact for your child.
Also, if any of you don’t have a Sponsor child, and are seriously considering, but are on the fence because you are unsure if it’s worth it. Trust me and DO IT!
Take it from someone who got to see one small part of how you can change a precious child’s future. You can make such an impact on a child’s life and family! This is such a beautiful way of being the hands and feet of Jesus.
