Debrief
After my first month in Swaziland, me and my squad went to our first debrief in South Africa, which is where I am currently. If you’re wondering what debrief is, it’s practically just a time away from ministry to process all that has happen if the previous months. It’s a time to sit with the Lord and see what he has been doing in your life and asking him what he wants to do. It’s a time to do fun things (like a Safari for instance) or go to the mall and get ice cream. It’s a time to refresh and prepare you to head back into full time ministry. That is debrief simply put.
It has been such a privilege to be here and just do the things that are not available in Swazi, such as; go out to eat good food and go to the mall, or have power and WIFI and so many other things!
It’s been so good to be able to reconnect with my friends and family at home, however it was a bit overwhelming going from not having any contact, to being able to have contact and be on the internet! Which may sound weird to anyone reading this, but if you try and go a month with only talking to your family once, and not once having internet, you would probably get more of what I am saying. It really is crazy!
After living in Swaziland for only one short month I really get adjusted to the slower pace of life. I learn to love the fact that my face( as well as the peoples faces around me) weren’t always stuck in a phone because I thought I needed to know what all my friends were doing. Instead, when I am not doing ministry I am able to read the bible or a good book, or just simply listen and love I’m surrounded by! It truly feels like a completely different lifestyle there in Swazi, and one I hope to incorporate into my routine back in the US.
In conclusion, Debrief had been restoring and I have been blessed by it, but now I am ready to get back to all the; no WIFI, no power and Pb+ j sandwiches every day at lunch. Most importantly I’m ready to get back to the work God called me here for, and that is to go and love. Love my squad, love the kids at my Carepoint, love my bus driver and love all God brings me into contact with.
“A new command I give to you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.” John. 13:35
Love and miss you all! Talk to you all in a couple of months.
