A week ago, I went to the local church along with two of my teammates to help with their children’s ministry. When we arrived, we discovered that the children were busy, but the parents were all waiting around in the courtyard. It came to our attention that one of the fathers was experiencing a lot of stomach pain. I asked him if I could pray for him. He agreed and I soon learned that his stomach pain was at a level 8 on a scale of 1-10 in intensity with 10 being the most painful. I put my hand on his stomach and prayed in Jesus’ name for it to be healed. I checked in with him and found out that the pain had dropped a notch to a 7. I then prayed for him again, and after checking in with him, was informed that there was no trace of pain! Praise Jesus! He was quite happy and a bit confused. He kept saying, “You’re Jesus!” I didn’t want him to think that I was special when it comes to healing. I truly believe it is a gift that many Christians have if they pursue it. I began to teach him about healing in order to empower him to pray for others. I was explaining to him about how we can receive a “word of knowledge” through a random physical pain we might experience that relates to someone in the immediate vicinity. I told him that one could have a random shoulder pain, for instance, and that would be a sign to maybe ask someone who God highlights if they have a shoulder pain. I wasn’t experiencing a shoulder pain in that moment, but as I said this, he shared that he actually had a shoulder pain currently. It was at a level 5 in the right shoulder. I prayed for him in Jesus’ name and right away it dropped to a zero! He was astounded and began telling the other parents about the pain disappearing in both his stomach and shoulder.

After a short amount of time, a couple appeared and he told me that I should pray for the husband who had been in an accident and lost his right eye. I have heard testimonies about radical creative miracles in which prosthetic eyes get replaced by real ones, but I had never seen such a thing happen. The only way I ever will see such a healing is if I have the faith to pray for it. I went ahead and prayed for the man’s eye and nothing happened. However, by praying with him, I found out that his wife had level 5 lower back pain. I prayed for her and the pain fully disappeared! Thank You, Jesus!

After this, another mother told us that her 3-year-old needed prayer. We had tried interacting with the 3-year-old girl when we arrived and she was unresponsive. The mother said that she had adopted her and the girl had experienced trauma. The birth mother used to stuff a towel in her mouth whenever she cried and was generally abusive towards her. The child would only speak at home when prompted and wouldn’t interact with the other children or speak in public. We prayed for the child and asked for any spirits of muteness as well as trauma to leave in Jesus’ name. After praying, we started asking the child to say a few words and it began repeating what we said. She gave me a high five and seemed noticeably different. It appeared as though the mother was greatly touched by this. What an amazing, inspirational afternoon it was!

I want to encourage all of you who are reading this and believe in Jesus to pray for the sick. Jesus Himself said, “Heal the sick,” as opposed to “pray for the sick,” but if that feels too daunting, just pray for them until you see healings; at which point, heal the sick : ) It took me 6 months to see my first healing after I started pursuing this gift, so don’t give up if you don’t see immediate results. People will be grateful that you prayed for them regardless of whether they get healed or not. God bless you all!
