What being fearless means to me, I looked up the definition of fearless on google and this is what came up: “a fearless defender of freedom” and some synonyms that were attached to it were bold, brave, lionhearted, intrepid (which means adventurous), plucky (having determined courage in times of difficulty), and those are just some that really stood out to me, many different interpretations of fearless! Many verses in the bible do not specifically say be “fearless” but a lot of them say have no fear, or do not be afraid. I personally thought I could reach being fearless on my own, and oh boy was I wrong. Being brave, bold, and of course FEARLESS cannot be found in myself alone. I can only reach those heights in myself when I bring God along for the ride. It just simply does not work without him. Back to the definition of fearless, “defender of freedom” WOW. I love that. Being fearless is defending FREEDOM. I don’t know about you but being fearless is really hard for me, I come across road blocks of fear that paralyze me in my faith. These road blocks are insecurities, pride problems, and the fear of the unknown. I want more than anything to live a life of being fearless, a life that is free from these chains. I want to be able to thrive off of the gifts that God has gave me to build his kingdom, and not let the road blocks of fear to block my way. I am encouraged to let Jesus control my life and not fear when I take time to sit and meditate who He is.
Three reasons I find Jesus compelling
1) How he peruses us so constantly. ( Listen to Reckless love by Cory Asbury)
~”Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life.” Psalm 23:6
~”Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”Philippians 1:6
~”Who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. “1 Timothy 2:4
~”Or imagine a woman who has ten coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and scour the house, looking in every nook and cranny until she finds it? And when she finds it you can be sure she’ll call her friends and neighbors: ‘Celebrate with me! I found my lost coin!’ Count on it—that’s the kind of party God’s angels throw every time one lost soul turns to God.” Luke 15:8-10
2) How he’s changed all my relationships when they are centered on him.
~”Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17 ( if you would like to know more about this ask me about me and Phebe’s journey)
~”Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: if either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
~”And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
~”A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” Proverbs 17:17
3) Because the beauty of this world and the beauty of people. It makes me believe that ultimately good not evil created it.
~I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderfulare your works; my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139:14
~“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.” Job 12:7-10
