“Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart. Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art. Thou my best thought by day or by night; waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light!”
Be Thou My Vision has been my anthem through this journey of applying and then being accepted to the World Race. I have been thinking a lot about my future recently, and I feel a peace that this is the next step God has for my life! May God be glorified in this journey!!
I am going on the World Race! I will be going to 11 countries in 11 months, starting January 2019. We will be coming alongside local churches, missionaries, and mission organizations to bring the Gospel! We will be in countries in the “10/40 Window”, countries that have very little presence of the Gospel.
I have a great love for Japan, where I grew up as a missionary kid until I was 11 years old. I have always wanted to go back there, and bring the Good News of Jesus.
I heard about the Race from so many different places. But for a long time, I never even considered that I might do it.
My interest started growing when I started following Julia Robertson on YouTube. She was on the World Race at the time, and was video blogging it!
But I still did not apply, because I was committed to being a caregiver for my grandparents.
I followed World Race vloggers on YouTube and Racer’s blogs for several years.
One day, my friend surprised me with a small Japanese flag she bought for me. That day, I watched a video by Julia Robertson (the person who started my interest in the World Race!) about her bucket list. It inspired me to start my own bucket list. The list included “Go back to Japan” and “Go on the World Race”. Which made me wonder if any new routes had been listed recently.
I looked it up, and sure enough, new routes had been posted 3 days earlier. Scrolling down to the 4th route, I couldn’t believe it! The first country on the route was Japan!! I started to cry and was so excited! I knew immediately that I had to go on this route! I also have a great love and interest in China and Mongolia, and really all of Asia.
I will be going to Japan, Taiwan, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Jordan and Israel.
I am so excited for this journey: growing closer to God and living in community with fellow believers, seeing what God is doing around the world, ministering and witnessing to people, and finding more direction in what God wants me to do with my life!
