A week ago I woke up in Swaziland, a country I really had begun to fall in love with. It was Friday the 13th, usually one of my favorite days out of the whole year (it’s a tattoo thing). My co-leader Katie and I had decided to take our logistics day and went to town while our squad went to ministry in the mountains. My morning was full of coffee, receipts, booking travel to our next country, more coffee, and emails. By 11:30am I had booked the squads travel to our third and final country. By 1:30pm Katie and I found out Lesotho had closed their borders and were not allowing anyone in or out of the country. By 3:30pm, we were on a call with our mentor listening to him tell us our next destination would be America, due to COVID-19. By 8:30am the next morning we were on a bus to South Africa. By 8:30pm Sunday we were on a flight home to America.

With Lesotho closing its borders, it created a domino effect in Southern Africa. Countries where the virus has not yet reached are wanting to keep it at bay, and others are trying to slow its spread. Adventures in Missions made the hard decision to pull us out ASAP, with our safety in mind, to keep us from getting stuck in a country overseas. In a matter of hours I went from having the next couple months of my life planned out to not even knowing where I’ll be sleeping tomorrow night. It’s been a whirlwind of a week, and things keep changing every hour. I know God has made me mobile, but this gave it a whole new meaning. I’m trusting in Him and know that He uses all thing for His glory. I will continue to praise Him no matter the country I am in, no matter the circumstances. Hallelujah from here below.

Praising from quarantine,

Sum
