Since being home, I have learned a lot about how the Race changed me. I look at people, places, actions, and ideas all in a more Kingdom-oriented light. One thing that hasn’t changed though is my inability to sit still. AIM recently sent me the date for leaving to Squad Lead, January 18th! I am BEYOND excited for this next chapter in life and with this organization I love. However, there are still 3 solid months before that date comes to pass. I have tried to keep myself busy with church, small group, work, and brainstorming fundraising ideas. Now, just over a month of being back in America, I’ve realized there’s a whole lot more to this “be still” thing God tells us to do in Psalm 46. He is slowly revealing to me the reason behind these few months of slowing down at home. In Ecclesiastes 3, the Qoheleth(teacher) takes the first 8 verses to tell us there is a time for everything; to live and die, cry and laugh, break and build, etc. He also tells us there’s a time to heal, be silent, embrace, and keep. Those things are pretty hard to do while constantly filling my schedule and moving around, so some changes need to be made. God has given me this time home to do just that. To heal from past experiences, relationships, and have reconciliation. To be silent not only to allow others to speak but to hear His voice among the constant noise of society. To embrace this time with my family. And to keep the faith and time during all of this. I will still be working, going to church, small group, and fundraising. But now instead of trying to fill those empty spaces in between with other busy tasks, I’m going to try being still and letting God show me what He wants to do in the stillness. Although it’s not easy, I am thanking Him for this time of growth before the next season.
Thankful for the growing pains,
Sum
P.S. My fundraising bar has officially been set up! God has blessed me with the opportunity to lead and disciple a group of young adults this Spring for 3 months (mid-January to late-April). We will be headed to 2-3 different countries where they will share the love of Jesus with those we encounter, and I will serve alongside them as well as serve them in their individual lives. I am so excited to be able to pour into these young people and share in their Kingdom Journey. In order to be fully funded for this next chapter, I need to raise $4,500. If you would like to support me financially, there is a donate button on the home page of my blog, located on the right side of the fundraising bar. If you would like to support me prayerfully, please pray for finances, discernment in leadership, and for these young adults as they get ready to take a step of faith out into the world. Thank you for all of your support!
