Am I really here? That’s the question that went through my mind most of the first week I was here in Ethiopia. Africa has always been on my destination list, pretty mission specific too. So when we landed in Ethiopia, it took a bit to finally get it through my head that yes, I really am here.
Ministry here has been amazing. The organization we’re working with, HOPEthiopia, has done an incredible job here in their 10 years. Every day I’m either playing soccer, tickling kids from the children’s village, hauling bricks miles and miles, or a combination of all the above. The kids in the children’s village on the compound were staying on have all been orphaned in some way, and they make up the majority of our ministry time. I get to pour into them, share Bible stories, teach songs and dances, make lots of crafts, and get my butt kicked in soccer (literally and figuratively).
Every day spend here I leave a little bit more of my heart with these people. Leaving this place is gonna be a doozie. If you’d like to pray for these kids, pray that they realize their potential in this world. Our host tells them all the time, they are this countries next doctors, social workers, politicians and leaders. And he is right. Pray for the house moms who take care of these kids. For the women in the kitchen who spend hours upon hours cooking for us each day. And for the people of Harbu Chulule, that they would experience God in miraculous ways here.
Looking at flights back to Africa already,
Sum
