Event day! Today, after all of our morning prayer and work was done, we hosted an even for a high school class here in the church. Around 20 high schoolers and their professor came and gathering in the sanctuary. A few of the students gave presentations for us on the city of Sombor and the organization they are a part of. Then a few of our people got to give them some presentations. Martha talked about America and it’s culture. She also gave an astounding rendition of the National Anthem…you had to be there. Rashad talked about what it looks like to be a black man in America today, and gave some motivational words to the students about change. Brittany talked about trauma and different ways it can look in our lives and others, as well of some ways to work through it.

Our tactic for the day was bridge building. We want to open the doors of the church and build a bridge for the people in the community to come and experience the joy we have. If we can build a relationship bridge for them to cross, then once the Spirit leads, we can present them with the bridge Jesus created for us all to cross and reach the Father. And it worked.

After the event, a few of the students wanted to stay for hours longer just to talk and get to know some of us. I’m hoping they come back to the coffee house in the next couple days and I can build a relationship with them. It’s not the typical evangelism I thought I’d be doing on the Race, but God works in mysterious ways.

Leaning into the Spirit on this one,

Sum
