Hey y’all! I know it’s been a minute since my last blog. My squad finished up our Month One debrief in Caye Caulker and then took a “15” hour bus ride from Belize City, Belize to Valle de Angeles, Honduras. That doesn’t seem too bad right? But that’d be too easy. 30+ hours after we left, we arrived at our destination. Our original bus that was supposed to take us the whole way got stuck at the Guatemala/Belize border on his way to pick us up. So we caught a different bus from the capital of Belize to the border, where we spent a few hours going through customs/immigration and walking across the border to meet our original bus. From there we traveled through Guatemala, stopped for a meal, and continued towards the border through the middle of the night. We were supposed to arrive mid morning to our host the following day, but that’s be way to easy. Instead, we found out that the border we were arriving to at 3:00am didn’t open until SIX AM. So naturally, we parked our giant bus in a gas station parking lot, pulled out our eye masks and ear plugs, and slept at the Guatemala/Honduras border until it opened, World Race style.

Nevertheless, we eventually made it here to the beautiful Valley of Angels in Honduras. The people, sights, culture, land, everything is breathtaking. I will do my best to put pictures in one of my next blogs! This month is all squad month, so our entire squad, plus our leader and mentor, are all staying together and doing ministry together. Our first ministry this month is serving at a home for disabled adults. Some of them are very young, others older. They all have some form of mental and/or physical disability. This ministry has broken me and we’ve only been there a few days. But just seeing the smiles and joy on their faces when we share the Father’s love with them is enough to keep me going. The language barrier is hard, but the Spirit knows all tongues and through Him we are able to do all things. I cannot wait to see how the rest of our time at this ministry goes and what God has in store for His people here.

Wifi is hard to come by here so I will do my best to keep up and post when I can! Please keep praying for my squad as we live in community and serve in our second country.

In Christ,
Sum
