One of my prayers leading up to the Race was for God to teach me about different expressions of His Spirit around the world. I am fascinated by the diversity of humanity. Variety in foods, cultures, belief systems, and overall life perspectives. Amidst the brokenness of the world, there is a way to find beauty in it all.

In Thailand my friend Theo invited me and a few squad mates to a valley in the mountains named Pai. It’s essentially a backpacker hub that bustles with travelers from around the world. Shekina Garden is a community that invites people to explore what following Christ looks like from their eyes. After going to their Sunday gathering I was blown away by the immense love and diversity in perspective that was shared during the few hours I was there. It reflected just how big God is. I had to tell the story.

As you can tell from the video, Chinua is an amazing man who exudes the presence of the Lord. He simply loves Jesus a lot and invites others into his experience. There was one part of his interview that did not make it into this cut but is worth mentioning. Chinua has an amazing outlook on God’s heart for travelers according to the Bible. From Abraham to Moses to Esther to Paul to Jesus himself, the leaders of our faith were all sojourners. God called them out of their comfort zone and they obeyed without full knowledge of where they were leading. They stepped out on faith.

“By faith he (Abraham) sojourned not knowing where he was going…for he waited for the city who’s builder and architect is God.” -Hebrews 11: 9, 10

There is a reason God calls us to leave our comfort zone and fully trust him. It builds character. This month in Malaysia our ministry is called Ask The Lord, or ATL. Essentially this means all month my team and I are committed to prayerfully asking God where to go and trusting that He’ll lead us to wherever we are meant to be. It has been amazing to experience what he has planned on the other end of walking by faith. I know there is so much more to come and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Much love,

Stella
