Nicaragua is the third country I’ll be living and serving in. It’s home to thick rainforests, large lakes, volcanoes, and beautiful beaches. Mayans and Aztecs are believed to be the earliest inhabitants of Nicaragua, and in terms of area, Nicaragua is just slightly larger than the state of New York! The poorest nation in Central America, over 75% of Nicaraguans live on less than $2 a day. One in four Nicaraguans is either starving or suffering from malnutrition, and entire families live on and scrounge for scraps in city dumps.

My team will spend one month in Nicaragua, partnering with Restore Educate Activate Perpetuate (REAP) ministry in Granada. REAP Granada reaches out into the community in multiple ways: through worship, Bible studies, sports, dinners, visiting local hospitals, and more!

Costa Rica is the fourth, and final country I’ll be living and serving in. It’s a hot spot for surfing, and an adventure seeker’s paradise. Between the stunning beaches, lush rain forests and beautiful people, tourism is a big hit for the locals. Outside of the tourist destinations, however, are large pockets of poverty and broken families throughout the nation. The country itself is transitioning from self-sufficient farming societies to more urban living.

My team will spend two months in Jaco, working alongside a partner church. We will share the gospel with people on the beach and though acts of kindness as we live there!

Prayer for Nicaragua:: Jesus thank you for Nicaragua. I pray that you are showing your children just how much you love them. Show them in the minor details and in the obvious circumstances. You’re such a good dad & your love is so vast, so much so that you know the exact number of hairs on their head, their hopes and dreams and you know each of them by name. Father don’t let them forget that, and if they don’t know it then send someone to share your heart with them! I speak against poverty and attacks on their identity. We command all political unrest to cease in the name of Jesus. No weapon formed against them shall prosper in the name of Jesus. Father help them to guard their hearts from the destructive ways of the world, and bless the work of their hands. Help them to want you more than what you can offer them. I thank you for what you’ve done, what you’re doing and what you will do in Nicaragua. In Jesus name, amen!

Prayer for Costa Rica:: Thank you Lord for Costa Rica. Jesus I thank you that they are a country of prosperity; that the ideas and inventions of the people will thrive, and with you on their side, will reap a harvest like none before. I speak confidence in your character over their hearts and your peace over their minds. I pray they have no fear of the future because they know who holds them in the center of his palm. I speak generational blessings over the families; that no scheme from the enemy can even come close to their kids and so on, because you are the God of faithful, never ending promises. Father may they be quick to listen to your voice, and always lean into your heart. Thank you for what you’ve done, what you’re doing, and what you will do in Costa Rica. In Jesus name, amen!
