Hi all! Some of you might’ve read this blog post already, but I’m adding in this link to one of my teammate’s, Ashley’s vlog!
Enjoy!

After an all-day bus ride from Medellin (a bigger city in Colombia), we arrived in Filandia around 8pm on Monday, July 8th. Filandia is a cute little town with lots of coffee shops. On the outskirts of town are multiple coffee farms. Filandia is known as a coffee capitol! Filandia has been a dream to live in. I even had the opportunity to begin marathon training here. The mornings are cool, so it’s easy to get up early to run.
This month, my team Level Up and I were blessed with our own 3 bedroom place, 2 bathrooms, and a small kitchen and eating area. It´s been an interesting month of learning to live without building walls of offense. Living with 6 other girls with different schedules and personalities is challenging and you´d think I´d be an expert after 9 months on the World Race, but each month has its´own challenges.
Our ministry for the month was called Fundacion Pioneras. It’s run by a World Race alumni, Karson, and her Colombian husband Eyson. Two days a week, we went to farm community schools to teach English, the Bible, Physical Education, and Art. In my classroom that I co-taught with Ashley and our translator Angelica, there were 10 students ranging from 4 years old to 12 years old. We even had one new girl from Venezuela, who has migrated here with some of her family. Each day was fun and challenging and a privilege to interact with the children.
3 days per week, we participated in an after-school program. We helped with homework as best we could, played board and card games, etc. On our last day, today, we had the opportunity to share about past months on the World Race and show the kids photos. We shared snippets of all God has done in us and through us. We were able to encourage them that it’s not to early to start following God and telling their friends about Him.
Dear Filandia,
Your coffee is good. Your buildings are beautiful. Your people are friendly.
Thank you for allowing me to call this place home for the past 3 weeks.
In courageous faith and for His glory alone,
Sharon
P.S. For those of you on Instagram, you might have noticed I stopped posting for a while. I was on a much needed social media fast, but I’m back! Go check out my stories for some photos!
